John was a long-time member of the Drum Corps and Winter Guard community - first as a marching member then as a Winter Guard Director and Winter Guard Dad. He was a driving force in keeping the St. John's Winter Guard active and competitive within North East Colour Guard Circuit from 2009-2016 and he also won the NECGC Volunteer of the Year Award in 2018. Though he will always be lovingly remembered by his family and friends, he will also continue to be a positive influence in the futures of our youths in the Drum Corps & Winter Guard community
